About Our Services
Apache Earthworks (Tasmania) Pty Ltd. has the equipment and skills required to deliver all aspects needed to complete projects from preparing the ground to delivering the finished project including trenching, excavation, plowing and HDD. Apache can handle virtually any type, size and complexity of project, through all kinds of terrain, completing each phase of the job as specified and on schedule.
HDD or trenchless technology which is relatively new to Australia enables us to navigate a drill rod underground for extended distances without disruption to property and is becoming the preferred practice for installing pipelines, cables, water and sewer lines. The major advantages are speed of installation combined with minimal environmental impact and restoration costs. HDD also minimizes traffic disruption by reducing the need to expose other utilities and obtaining road or wetland crossing permits
Why Directional Drilling
Congested work areas:
Directional drilling can be utilized on crowded high traffic construction sites with minimal impact to surrounding activities due to the limited space required by the equipment. Additionally, since no excavation is required, directional drilling is a safe method to install new pipe and conduit in locations of high underground infrastructure congestion.
Sites with limited access:
In locations where access to the construction site is limited, directional drilling provides a convenient method of installation. Directional drilling allows for crews to work in safe locations that do not impede the normal operation of a facility.
Crossings:
Directional drilling is ideal for installing infrastructure beneath highways, roads and railway tracks where for example the temporary closure of the facilities for construction is not an option. This technology can also be used to cross beneath surface structures and buildings, where the utilization of conventional methods of pipe installation would not be possible. Crossings of rivers, streams and lakes can also be accomplished with minimal environmental impact.
Environmentally sensitive areas:
The preservation of valuable nature reserves and parkland is of increasing concern and HDD allows for the installation of infrastructure beneath these areas without affecting these sensitive ecosystems.
